baby question

I am looking for all the advice you mothers have :)

What is the deal with baby bath tubs?

What makes them better or worse?

For example: I'm looking at the bath tub pictured below and it's $35

And then I see this tub for $20

Is the tub above really worth $15 more? Why? What makes a tub a good one?

What are your thoughts moms??

i personally like the bottom one because it can go in the sink and you dont have to lean over in the actual tub to give them a bath. My back does better with sink bathing. Especially when they are really little. But the ones with nets are really nice and then you just take the net off when they get bigger. so I would go with a sink one, with a net. there is my 2 cents!

Oh, this will be fun. Will all of my advice be welcomed? Ummm. Go to Wal-mart and I bet they'll have one for less then 20. It'll fit in the SINK so as to not bend and break your back. The ones on top look to fancy and complicated. That's what I have to say. Plus I want to get you a bouncer. Find the one you love and that will be our gift to you. There is a story behind it that I'll share soon. But seriously check those out too.

So... we have the baby tub on the bottom. Our's came with a mesh lining. Do you know if that one does? The mesh lining is removable (and machine washaable!), but it's great when they're a baby. It keeps them in the water without letting them slide too much into it. The seat by itself it difficult when they're newborns because their little bums slide right down. It's a great little tub though. It sits right in the kitchen sink, so you don't have to bend down while you're bathing them or it works great in the bathtub too. We loved it and used it with both kiddos.

Hope that helps. Sorry for being so lengthy! :)

Oh ha. Yes, the link you listed shows the mesh lining. It's a great little tub. ;)

So we got one kinda like the bottom picture as a gift, but it was only like 10 dollars at Wal-Mart. It didn't have a lining thing though. I thought it worked just fine. But since I have never used a different one it is hard to say what would be best.

I got a tub from Babies R Us that converts to a bath chair. I absolutely loved having a bath chair. When they are ready for a real bath they are still really unstable and so you have to be right next to them in case they fall over. With the bath chair Aubrey would sit in it and play in the tub for like an hour and I could either just sit and watch or read while she played - it was heavenly. Then with Brooke she wanted to sit in the tub with Aubrey and it was much safer having the two of them in there together with Brooke in the chair. That way she wouldn't get knocked over by Aubrey. So my suggestion would be one that could convert to a chair. Good luck with all of these decisions!

I have one more similar to the top- when Jayda was a newborn I would only use the insert and put it in the sink. She outgrew the sink and then I would use the baby tub. It is fine, but honestly I think the cheaper one would do just as good of job. Good luck!

You know what....for the first 3 months, I used a large plastic kitchen bowl.haha. It worked fabulously since they are so small. Then I moved on to a tub similar to the second pic you have. Once he starts sitting up better(he's 5 months now) I'll just put him in the bath with shallow water. (That's what I did with my first). So, hope that helped!
P.S.Baby baths are over-rated! ;)

I liked the last one because ours came with a mesh topper that clips onto the edges and great when they are really tiny. Btw I have been meaning to tell you that i started my own little business making custom baby bedding and thought of you. Let me know if you are interesed! 8014736087
